After the annual AGM this seasons awards were presented by Paul Bulpitt and Rob King, another big thank you to The George, St Mary Bourne for their support throughout another good season.

James Johnson – Joined halfway through the season and played pretty much every game there after, bringing fashion tips and manscaping to the team.

With just over a week to go before the first ever ‘Bourne Valley Sixes’ I thought I would update you all with whats going on throughout the day and mention a few things that we might need some help with.

For Children – 10:30 am till 11:45am

Children’s Cricket Coaching • Children’s Kwik Cricket Match • BBQ Lunch • Bouncy Castle • Sumo Suits, Giant Jenga

Run by Steve Bennett and some willing volunteers

For Adults – 11:45am – 6:00pm

Six-a-Side Tournament Brief Overview of Format Below

  • 5 x 6 Ball Overs – Everyone bowls 1 OVER except the Wicket keeper
  • Last Man Standing – All wickets must fall
  • Retire at 36
  • Each Innings last 15 Minutes
  • No extra balls – But extras (wides, no balls) will be counted

Pools of 3-5 Teams dependent on Team Entries.

To allow us to plan and keep the day running smoothly, if you plan on attending or are entering a team can you please email Steve Bennett on steveyb1@hotmail.com with details of players so we can allow for numbers. By Friday 26th May 2017.

Mac was a very fun loving, colourful lad so can we please ensure all players are not wearing whites! But if you can try an organise your team in the same colour that would be very fitting!

To ensure we don’t disrupt the running of the Village Shop or any other aspects of village life can we please park behind the bowls club through the small gate at the Tennis court end of the Car Park – Drive with care also! This would be much appreciated.

Fun for all of the family!

Players, Children, Spectators, Supporters are all welcome. Of any age, gender and ability! So why not come along and have a nice family day out, play a little cricket, support your local Cricket club and most importantly raise some money for Charity in memory of Mac!

Start Time: 10:30am • Estimated Finish Time: 6:00pm

Lots of Beers in The George afterwards, and for the seasoned pro a friendly game of Matchbox! There are lots of new members to the club this year so please come and have a beer and get to know everyone socially.

IF ANYONE WOULD LIKE TO VOLUNTEER FOR ANY THING DURING THE DAY, THAT WOULD BE HUGELY APPRECIATED! ORGANISERS WILL BE AT THE REC AT 9:30AM TO SETUP SO ANY HELP FROM THEN REALLY.

BACON ROLLS WILL BE SUPPLIED TO ALL WILLING VOLUNTEERS!

Sunday 28th May 2017 will host the first ever ‘Bourne Valley Sixes’ an occasion for all of the family, and to encourage more visitors, spectators and players to the club. But most importantly in memory of Mac Sutcliffe a very promising young player who sadly left us last year.

St Mary Bourne Cricket Club – Annual General Meeting

Friday 18th November 2016 at The George, St Mary Bourne. 7.30pm for 8pm Start.

Great opportunity to catch up, discuss the club moving forward. Elect officers for next Season and to Hand out awards from the past season.

PLEASE MAKE AN EFFORT TO ATTEND, IT IS IMPORTANT TO THE FUTURE OF THE CRICKET CLUB.

The George will be putting on some grub, Partners are more than welcome. Please let me know if you plan on coming so I can give numbers for food.

We ‘Look’ Like A Proper Club Now

The new mobile covers have arrived. Just in time for the start of the league season, a big thanks to Phil who took delivery and has sorted out the pipework.

Batting paradises can be expected from now on at the Recreation Ground so I am told.

A big thank you also to the HCB and the England & Wales Cricket Boards EWCT Grant Scheme which enabled us to get NEW matching sheet covers allowing the sides and bowlers runs up to protected from the elements too.

If you hadn’t already heard, Club Chairman Jack White is stepping into the ring to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Jack will make his in ring boxing debut on Saturday 23rd of April 2016. Tickets for the event are still available. Contact Jack if you would like to see him take a beating!

Phil Fish – The Man With The Money

Unfortunately elected Chris Randall has stepped down as Club Treasurer and Phil Fish has stepped in on an interim basis. As always if anyone else would like to stand in the role please get in touch with any member of the Club Committee to show your interest.

With retirement taken Phil has plenty of time to keep up to date with the club finances. And has already contacted various members with details of ‘2016 Membership Subscriptions’ full Membership details are below, but remember you get a discount if you were at the workdays last season.

If you didn’t make the annual AGM back in November last year you won’t be aware of some changes to club personal. Here is a brief overview for you.

Rob King was elected as President

Jack White, Martin Clay & Jez Ahl were re-elected as Chairman, Secretary & Fixtures Secretary respectively.

Paul Bulpitt takes on the reigns for the Saturday League XI with Phil Fish his Vice Captain.

James Swift will take control of the Sunday Friendly XI for another season with Nick Crump as his Vice Captain.

Stephen Bennett also joins the committee to help with the encouragement of new players
locally and within the village.
