Record Breaking Win

St Mary Bourne CC vs Whiteparish II

A record breaking final league game for SMBCC saw them ensure third spot in Hants R2NW.

Having been asked to bat by bottom placed Whiteparish the SMB top 5 took advantage of some friendly bowling on a very hard true batting track. Phil Fish 46, James Swift 69, Rob King 47, Andy Stevens 58 and a brutal 34 ball, 83* not out from Alex Aldridge saw SMB to a mammoth 341-4 after 42 overs, a club record as far as we can tell.

With not much impetus from the home team in trying to score any runs, the Bourne team took wickets at regular intervals, sharing the bowling around all 6 SMB bowlers used taking 1 or more wickets. Whiteparish eventually succumbing for 63 all out, a massive 278 run win for SMBCC, the biggest by over 100 runs in the clubs history!

A real shame such an enjoyable league season had to come to an end! A big shout out to everyone who has played this year and made it such a fun environment to be around. Amazing a difference a year makes!
